Native American Students Aim To Retire Chief Illiniwek Shirts

Chief Illiniwek was retired from being the official University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign mascot a decade ago, but he's still a large presence on the university campus. Some students say that’s not okay.

We talk with the president of the Native American & Indigenous Student Organization,  Thereza Lituma, about a campaign to trade in old or unofficial shirts with the Chief mascot for new ones supporting U of I teams. As she tells us, while this issue is an important one to address, she also hopes to garner interest in Native American issues at large:
