Renato Mariotti, right, tells guest host Joy Reid, left, he's running for attorney general of Illinois. This screen capture is from MSNBC's "All In With Chris Hayes" on Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017.

Another day — another candidate for Illinois Attorney General.

Former federal prosecutor Renato Mariotti is at least the seventh Democrat to say he wants to succeed Lisa Madigan, who’s not running for re-election.

Mariotti announced his candidacy with an appearance on MSNBC and in an online video, and says he wants to join the ranks of Democratic A.G.s using their office to fight the Trump Administration.

“So if you’re angry, as I am, about a president who’s disgracing our nation, please join our campaign for attorney general," he says in a web video.

Mariotti has developed a following on Twitter and as a legal commentator on cable TV.

Other Democrats in the race include attorney Aaron Goldstein, Chicago Park District President Jesse Ruiz, state Sen. Kwame Raoul, Highland Park Mayor Nancy Rotering, state Rep. Scott Drury, and former Chicago police misconduct investigator Sharon Fairley.

Brian Mackey hosts The 21st Show and formerly reported on state government.
