Event Description

Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum and Library

The Ronald Reagan Shooting: The crime that horrified a nation in 1865 came close to happening again in 1981 when President Reagan was severely wounded by a madman. Del Quentin Wilber, author of “Rawhide Down: The Near Assassination of Ronald Reagan,” will explain in gripping detail how Reagan was shot, what the Secret Service did to keep him alive and how surgeons battled to save him. Wilber will sign copies of his bestselling book at 6 p.m. and then speak in the museum’s Union Theater at 6:30. A special program in conjunction with the ALPLM’s exhibit “From Illinois to the White House: Lincoln, Grant, Reagan, Obama.”
