All this week, Decatur resident Brittanie Brooks has worn dresses and skirts.

Her No Pants challenge is an awareness campaign (check for the #NoPantsForOvarianCysts and #NoPantsForOvarianCancer hashtags on social media) for Illinois' Ovarian Cyst Awareness Week, which began Sept. 11 and goes through Sunday.

Local health departments are responsible for everything from restaurant inspections, regulating private sewage systems and water wells and investigating disease outbreaks -- all services that are threatened, as they await for state money to come through.

Illinois'  future summers could be as hot as Texas.

As new bio-technology and research make more and more information available to patients with cancer, they and their families often confront new and challenging decisions. Some risk factors for cancer can be inherited. Many have been linked to gene mutations. In some cases, people choose not to know if they carry any of the genes. Others choose to learn they carry a marker for cancer and must make the difficult decision of how to respond. Some increase screening, others undergo preventive surgery while they're healthy.

People with autism can sometimes find it difficult to interact with others. That can make getting a job even harder. But there is a place where on the job training can open the horizons of both workers and customers.
