A week before the Illinois State Fair, health officials have confirmed this year's first case of a relatively new type of swine flu.
According to the Illinois Department of Public Health, a child who visited the DuPage County Fair and came in contact with pigs showed mild symptoms of the H3N2V virus.
Department Director LaMar HasBrouck says Illinois residents should enjoy state and county fairs while being careful to frequently wash their hands.
Meanwhile, State Fair Manager Amy Bliefnick says fairgoers can use an improved mobile website with GPS to locate restrooms - the food you may eat after all that hand-washing - and the fun to follow:
"You can actually map how to get where you are to the butter cow or find out where the carnival rides are or where their favorite food vendor is… you know, we have 14 free entertainment stages, so all o f the information on our website is available on our mobile app."
Bliefnick says information about the Grandstand concerts, which include Toby Keith, REO Speedwagon, Styx and Ke$ha, is also available online at www.ISFmobile.info.
The 2013 State Fair runs August 8th through the 18th.
