Safe Harbor: Work By Diaz Lewis - 'Artivism' In Springfield

Mar 1, 2017

Diaz Lewis is a collaboration between Cara Megan Lewis of Kansas City, Missouri, and Alejandro Figueredo Diaz-Perera of Cuba. Their art comes from a variety of media, one particular project utilizes pillows. That will be part of what's on display at The University of Illinois Springfield Visual Arts Gallery in an exhibit called "Safe Harbor: Work by Diaz Lewis."

The work explores immigration issues, a talk in conjunction with the exhibition reception will take place Thursday March 2nd at 5:30 pm in the Brookens Auditorium on the UIS campus. The talk is titled "Diaz Lewis: Artivism and Immigration Reform." Click here for more information on those events. The work will be on display through April 13th. Alejandro Figueredo Diaz-Perera visited our studio to talk more about it:
