Illinois State University in Normal kicked off a new Queer Studies concentration, under the Women & Gender Studies department, this academic year. It's a burgeoning field, one that might not be as well understood as more traditional academic areas of study.
ISU Professor Erin Durban-Albrecht is doing her part to get conversations going about the interdisciplinary field. She organizes a series of lectures, called QUEERtalks, which are free and open to the public. Hear more about it:
Brooke Lober, of Sonoma State University and the Women Against Imperialism Oral History Project, was the latest scholar to be featured. She tells about her lecture, which was titled "Women Against Imperialism: Tracing Queer/Feminist Revisions of Home."
