Willa Rae & the Minor Arcana will be playing Friday at an event in Urbana at the Cohen Building. It's hosted by a newly formed Girls Rockchapter. It goes from 6 - 8pm and other female-fronted bands will be playing.
One of the main missions of the organization is providing music camps for school aged girls in order to help them break through a traditionally male dominated field. At Friday's event there will also be a photo series featuring the work of photographer Anna Longworth. We caught up with Olivia Tasch - who is on the board of Girls Rock Champaign-Urbana, which formed last year. Her band, called the Chickadee Sermon, will also play, and we preview a tune.
