Butler Named New 87th District Rep

Republican County Leaders Saturday selected Tim Butler as a replacement in the Illinois 87th House District.  He'll fill the seat Rich Brauer held until he resigned to take a job with the Rauner Administration.

Butler has served as an aide to Congressman Rodney Davis, as his District Chief of Staff. Previously, he worked for Congressman Ray LaHood.

GOP Leaders from four counties that make up the district (Sangamon, Logan, Menard and Tazewell) accepted applications over the past week before unanimously selecting Butler.
The Republican leaders issued the following statements:

“Butler shares the conservative values of the families in the 87thDistrict,” said Dave Bender of Logan.
“His experience will serve him well and his drive to provide quality constituent service will be a great benefit to the district.”

“Many qualified candidates applied for this position, but in the selection process, it became clear that Tim was the best candidate to advocate for and bring attention to the issues facing the 87th District,” said Rosemarie Long of Sangamon County.

“Tim will be a strong, compassionate voice in state government, and will bring quality ideas to the table to help turn our state back around,” said Jason Huffman of Menard County.

“I strongly support Tim Butler as the next State Representative for the 87th District.  His knowledge and understanding of the issues facing our district and state was superb” added Mary Burress of Tazewell County.

Butler will be sworn in
this coming week.
