Bedrock 66: Lydia Loveless Is A Young Rocker, Old Soul

Lydia Loveless started making her first album at the age of 17. She's been acknowledged as one of the best up-and-coming artists by both Spinand Rolling Stonemagazines. Her songs are hard to classify. She is able to mix honky-tonk with a grunge/punk and even pop sound. The 24 year old is a huge pop fan, counting Prince and Ke$ha among favorites. She's on Chicago's Bloodshot Records and her newest album is called Somewhere Else.

Loveless played in Springfield in 2012 and was a fan favorite. She returns with her band, including Ben Lamb on bass (also her husband), drummer Nick German, and Todd May on guitar. Loveless, a resident of Columbus, Ohio, joined me for this interview.

LYDIA LOVELESS plays at Homespun Republic (107 West Cook St, Springfield) onSaturday night at 8pm. Tickets/more info here.
