A recent project combines the work of Springfield's most well-loved poet, the late Vachel Lindsay, with one of Springfield's favorite contemporary visual artists. A book titled, A Net to Snare the Moonlight collects over 15 children's poems by Lindsay and pairs them with artistic interpretations. We spoke with the artist, Felicia Olin and the head of the Vachel Lindsay Association, Melissa Higgs, about it, as well as events to celebrate the work this weekend:

Events for "A Net to Snare the Moonlight" include:

  • ON SATURDAY FROM 2-4PM -- "'A Net to Snare the Moonlight' will be introduced to the public at   an artist-in-residence reception for Felicia Olin. The artist’s original illustrations, along with other artwork, will be on display from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Vachel Lindsay Home State Historic Site, and Olin will speak about the process of illustrating her work at a presentation that begins at 2 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided, and Olin will be available to sign copies of the book immediately following her presentation."
