Sarah Lucy Oliver

Sarah Lucy Oliver is the Executive Producer of NPR's Weekend Edition. In this role, she works with hosts, editors, and other production staff to plan and produce the content that forms Weekend Edition Saturday and Weekend Edition Sunday, NPR's weekend morning newsmagazines. She comes to this role after two years as Weekend Edition supervising producer, where she coordinated the duties and responsibilities of producers, directors, and hosts.

Oliver joined Weekend Edition as an intern in 1989 and later returned to NPR in 1994 as an assistant editor for journalist Daniel Schorr. In 1997 Oliver became a Weekend Edition associate producer/ director. She has remained with the program ever since.

At Weekend Edition, Oliver brings content and talent together to create an engaging blend of news stories and features. In the 16 years she has been a part of the show, Oliver has held a variety of roles and produced a broad range of stories, including pieces on the September 11 attacks and the Columbia Shuttle disaster, as well as interviews with the likes of Patti Smith and Mr. Rogers. Stories about the gravesite of Stonewall Jackson's arm, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and Florida's Grapefruit League are a few additional highlights of her work.

Prior to coming to NPR, Oliver worked as the Public Television Library assistant for PBS from 1985 to 1989 where she helped program and deliver encore broadcasts of PBS shows for affiliate stations.

She received a B.A. in French literature from University of Virginia and a M.A. in broadcast journalism from University of Maryland.
